Today, I put the finishing touches on my signage report, attached below:

My conclusions are that Perry should:
- Adding directional signs on both ends of the shelves
- Creating a consistent look for signs throughout the library, i.e. the AV signs should look the same as the adult directional signs
- Remove extraneous and update and/or remove inaccurate signs
- Consider the audience – signage in the children’s area should be at a child’s eye level and useful for a child browsing, i.e. explaining the DDC classification numbers
- Limit informational sign content and use a single, readable font
- Add signs that orient visitors to the location of the adult stacks, as well as the reference and circulation desks
- Avoid using library jargon, such as ‘circulation’ or ‘reference’
Many of these adjustments can be done without significant additional cost to the library.
