Chapter Three: Library Wizard Apprentice

The title of this particular blog post comes from a comment from today. Technically, my internship at the library is an “apprenticeship”. When I told that to one of the ASD people today, he thought it sounded like I was a wizard’s apprentice. And thus, “Library Wizard Apprentice” was born.

Anyway, orientation is finally done. We did fun things like blood-borne pathogens, violence in the workplace, and dealing with the lovely media. More shadowing at Reference. I could definitely fit in as a librarian – Maggie, whom I shadowed for part of the day, likes Game of Thrones and Arrested Development. There are quite a few knitters on staff. It seems I may have found my people. I was also able to actually direct a patron today – I know where the biographies are!

My next day at the library is Tuesday, when I’ll finally meet my supervisor! I’m headed to Chicago with my boyfriend and his family, so hopefully I can get some reading done. I’m only about 4 (very short) chapters into Treasure Island. I know, I know – bad librarian-in-training! Bad!
