I spoke with the Heights Library’s Training and Staff Development Manager today to finalize the details of my internship. That means I have more information to share!
I’ll be at the library about 10 hours a week. We’re still working out exactly how long the internship will be. As I said in my last post, my primary focus is on Adult Services/Reference. However, part of what drew me to this opportunity was the ability to experience a variety of experiences in a public library setting. I’ll be shadowing at circulation, meeting with technical services and administration, visiting other branches and working with their reference staff, attending and helping out with programs, and just getting a basic overview of how a public library runs.
The first week of my internship coincides with the library’s training for new hires. I’ll be doing all the fun training things that come with starting a new job. That training starts next Tuesday (a week from today!) at 8:30am.
In the meantime, I’ll be finishing up my German final paper, packing up my room and driving myself, all my stuff and Meera back to Cleveland!
