Today, I began writing up my sign audit report. As I began writing, I realized that, due to the many issues with signage, this would be a much more extensive project than I initially thought. This report for Perry will be shared with staff members, so I am trying to walk the line between being critical of current signage and being aware of the limitations of a small staff and budget. My intention is not to hurt the signmakers’ feelings, but rather to provide constructive feedback for improving patrons’ experiences in the library. This balance can be difficult to achieve as an outsider, but I hope to bring a fresh perspective to these signs.
