Today, I staffed the reference desk with Brandon. He was leading the training later on, but had not had a chance to view the Signup and Spaces webinars. I gave him an overview of the web apps, as well as some tips and handy features to highlight. He noted there was no obvious RSS feed component. The ability to use an RSS feed is vital to Perry’s electronic signage.
Libraries are dependent on vendors to purchase and process books, provide eBooks, have an online catalog, make event registration available to the public, and more! These systems are far too complex to be created in-house – especially for small libraries without dedicated IT staff. This, of course, leaves libraries at the whims of these vendors. If Evanced has removed the RSS feed, there is little to be done. If a publisher pulls content from OverDrive, the library is out of luck.
