Today, I continued working on website content, as well as updating my previously-created marketing video with a new age group.
Library websites have become an important access point for patrons, acting as a digital extension of the library building. The current website is trying too hard to provide everything to everyone, which ultimately makes it difficult to find anything. While Brandon has the technical ability to create a much more attractive website than I can, but this website also needs to be usable from a library perspective. Certain sections, such as the Board and library policies, may seem irrelevant to someone focusing exclusively on web design, but these are necessary for transparency. In my own grad school projects, I greatly appreciated those libraries who made all of this information accessible to the general public. We are, after all, in the business of making information accessible – this should apply to information about our institutions as well.
